Biodiesel Generators

The contribution to the sustainability and cleanliness of diesel engines has been one of the focuses of biodiesel production. Biodiesel is a ground-breaking fuel that is rapidly becoming more available to the general community. Biodiesel generator engines can run on alternative fuel sources such as soy, corn oil, hemp, animal fats (such as lard or fish oil), and even cow manure. Using these items as an alternative fuel source is cost effective, clean, and safe for the environment.

If you are considering biodiesel be sure to also consider cogeneration . At best a diesel generator converts 35% of available BTU to electricity and the remainder are emitted as heat. Fortunately Biodiesel behaves like a detergent, loosening and eventually removing this residue over a period of months. Loosened deposits will be filtered out by the fuel filter. Biofuels Power has begun construction on a larger, turbine-based biodiesel power plant at the Safe Renewables' refinery site. The second facility is expected to deliver more than 10 Megawatts into the Entergy power grid that delivers electricity to customers in East Texas and Louisiana.

And because it is biodegradable and nontoxic, biodiesel poses little to no environmental threat while in transit. According to the Journey to Forever biodiesel making guide, potash (KOH or potassium hydroxide) is the easiest and most effective catalyst. As a catalyst, potash mixes with methanol and vegetable oil to break down some of the acidity and free fatty acid (FFA) in pure or waste vegetable oil. Since your Biodiesel processor is likely for regular use it is helpful if it is readily available in case it is needed. Moreover, you can secure the processor from possible damages.

The BioPro 190 (BP-190) converts organic oils into an alternative to diesel fuel called Biodiesel through a chemical process. The common name for the process is called an acid/base catalyzation. But it will probably be the biodiesel pumps now beginning to pop up in gas stations at freeway exits that will really help nudge alternative fuels into the mainstream. And if folks like those who came to the St. For instance, one campus group is interested in doing a biodiesel experiment for high school chemistry students. We'd like some help making the system and production process simple to learn.

The Peugeot has a 60 litre fuel tank, so 1022km using 60 litres of biodiesel is 5.87 litres used per 100km, or 48.14 miles per gallon. This was combined driving, as well as using the air-conditioner and occasionally giving it a bootfull. Biodiesel is known chemically as a 'fatty acid methyl ester'. Which is just a fancy way of saying it's a product made from Methanol and an organic oil with fatty acid chains in it. The governments of most countries are actively promoting the use of biodiesel. The US and Europe have over 2 decades of experience with millions of miles logged using biodiesel. The Chinese government has banned the use of grain for ethanol production to ensure that it will be available for food use, and therefore have very ambitious plans for biodiesel. Current plans are to increase biodiesel output to 200,000 tons by 2010 and 2 million tons by 2020.

For the study, the MOFTB organized the alliance between Cornell researchers, CCNY grad students and Sony Pictures Entertainment to help compare emission output between diesel and biodiesel, a plant-based alternative fuel. The study took place on the set of Columbia Pictures’ The Taking of Pelham 123 while it shot on location in Brooklyn in June 2008; the film opened in theatres on June 12, 2009. Assuming you want to use biodiesel to heat water, make steam, and generate electricity off of the steam, this is definitely possible. In fact, it’s how most power plants work–it’s based on the Rankine cycle of producing work from heat. Feedstock is usually free, so the end user must pay only for the machine to make the biodiesel (a one-time cost) and for the methanol, a portion of which can be recovered and re-used. Because of this, a gallon of biodiesel typically costs between 45 cents and 85 cents per gallon to make.

If you want to make Biodiesel fuel and you want to make it as hassle-free as possible, kits are definitely the way to go. However, you must be willing to shell out the money. CUBiodiesel has initiated relationships with groups in Columbia, Mali, Kenya, Nigeria and Nepal to share the knowledge we have gained to assist a variety of communities begin using and producing biodiesel. The cost of maintaining it over a period of three to four years and the money needed to build oil extraction plants further raise expenditure of producing biodiesel. Another problem area is where to get millions of saplings for sowing and how to water the plants.

Within diesel fuels, biodiesel is much less flammable than petroleum diesel. I picked up the engines in L.A., drove them to Sacramento, and we'll soon have a biodiesel/SVO Syncro Westy! Automatic Heat serves about 2,000 customers with oil furnaces, “and about 85 percent are using biodiesel – it’s pretty much clipping right along,” Schilling said. We don’t go higher because, like cars, some fuel systems can’t handle more than that without modifications.”Even at that level, the blend “makes a huge impact on emissions,” he said.

Chicago Storms - 100,000 in the dark.

Chicago Storm leaves 100,000 in the dark100,000 still in dark a day after storms.

Nearly 100,000 Commonwealth Edison customers remained without power late Saturday in the aftermath of vicious storms that uprooted trees, shattered windows and downed power lines throughout the Chicago area.

The powerless included 34,000 in the city, ComEd spokesman Jeff Burdick said.

(EmergencyPower.com delivers backup generators, standby generators and portable generators to those effected by power outages)

The utility company anticipates the majority of customers should have service restored by tonight, but others might not get power for several days, Burdick said.

In northwest suburban Hawthorn Woods, a boil order for tap water was issued Saturday to residents because of a power outage.

The outage was so infuriating to an Oak Lawn man that he called 911 and threatened to shoot someone because he was so distraught over not having power, police said. After a three-hour standoff, the man, whom police did not identify, was arrested in the home he shared with his mother.

In total, 550,000 customers lost power at some point during the two bands of storms Friday, Burdick said.

He said northwest suburban Des Plaines was one of the hardest hit areas, with almost 30 high-voltage transmission poles "mangled" or knocked over by high winds.

Chicago reported Saturday that 44 crews had responded to nearly 3,000 reports of downed trees since the storm hit.

Just a day after shards of glass fell from windows blown out at the Willis Tower, police reported shattered glass fell from the American Girl Store, 835 N. Michigan, Saturday afternoon. One person hit by the glass was hospitalized in good condition. Officials, however, could not confirm reports that the Friday storms had weakened the windows.

Power Lines Down In Leamington Ontario

State of emergency declared in Leamington

LEAMINGTON, Ont. -- A state of emergency has been declared in Leamington as of 6:25 a.m. Sunday after a tornado swept through the town downing trees, power lines and destroying homes, a spokeswoman said.

No death or injuries have been reported, but weather has caused severe structural and tree damage. "It's pretty extensive," said Anne Miskovski, spokeswoman for the Town of Leamington emergency management team. "There's a lot of property damage."

The tornado touched down around 3 a.m., Miskovski said. "We were completely unaware of it coming," she said. It destroyed properties in the area bordered by County Road 20, also known as Seacliff Drive, Fraser Road and Bevel Line. Emergency crews assessing the damage have set up road blocks and are warning the public to avoid the storm scene while they look for potential victims under the debris. "Because there are power outtages and downed power lines, people are cautioned to be very, very careful," Miskovski said.

The biodiesel bottom-line:

While biodiesel is certainly appealing in some ways, in its current state of refinement it is totally unsuitable for long range cruisers, sailboats, boats with very large tanks and standby generators.

Here's the short version of why:

1. Biodiesel degrades quickly, like milk. It must be used within 90 days of manufacture, a near impossibility in marine applications and standby generators.

2. Biodiesel's strong solvent-like properties do a great job of cleaning normal accumulations of asphaltenes from tanks and fuel lines; the freshly loosened debris plugs the filters.

Power Generaors - Alternatre Source of Electricity

Power generators are an alternate source for electricity backup. Generators produce electricity through combustion driven engines which are easy to use and maintain. Power generators can be used for different purposes such as outdoor trips (picnics, camping, road trips, or other outdoor activities), residential use and commercial use.

There are three main types of generators: portable, residential standby generators, and commercial stand by generators. You can choose from the three main categories according to your needs, requirements and power management.
